Ten Thousand Years Would Still Not Be Enough

Ten Thousand Years reflects on the moment we step beyond this life and into the presence of Jesus — the One whose mercy carried us through every season.

Song and 7 Day Devotional Included

There are moments in life when eternity feels very close. Sometimes it happens in grief. Sometimes it happens in worship. Sometimes it happens when you sit quietly and realize how temporary this world really is. We spend so much of our lives racing against time. We count birthdays, deadlines, appointments, anniversaries, and seasons. We measure our lives in years, but heaven does not operate on our clocks. Heaven is eternal. Heaven never runs out of mornings. Heaven never reaches an ending. That thought changes me.

The older I get, the more I realize this life is not the main story. It is the introduction. It is the road leading home. One day, every burden we carried will disappear. Every prayer prayed through tears will finally make sense. Every moment we trusted God when we could not see Him will be redeemed in His presence. I often imagine what it will feel like to finally see Jesus face to face. Not through faith. Not through Scripture alone. Not through prayer in the quiet. But standing before Him fully alive in eternity.

I do not think we will care about the things that once consumed us here. The fears, comparisons, disappointments, and temporary struggles of earth will fade in the light of His glory. What will remain is gratitude. Gratitude for mercy. Gratitude for grace. Gratitude that He never gave up on us. The beautiful thing about eternity is that it never grows old. We will never reach a moment where worship becomes routine. We will never run out of reasons to thank Him. Even after ten thousand years in heaven, we will still be discovering new depths of His goodness and love.

That is hard for our human minds to comprehend because everything on earth eventually fades. Excitement fades. Emotions fade. Possessions fade. Even memories fade. But the presence of God never fades. The joy of heaven will never diminish because Jesus Himself is the center of it. Infinite love cannot be exhausted. Infinite peace cannot wear out. Infinite glory cannot become ordinary.

Sometimes I think we live too attached to temporary things because we forget how permanent eternity really is. This world is not forever. Pain is not forever. Graves are not forever. Goodbyes are not forever. For those who belong to Christ, forever is filled with life. That gives me hope when life feels heavy. It reminds me that every sacrifice made for God matters. Every quiet act of faithfulness matters. Every tear cried in prayer matters. Heaven sees it all.

One day, all of us who know Him will stand together in a place where there is no sickness, no fear, no anxiety, no funerals, and no darkness. Just Jesus. Just worship. Just joy that never ends. Ten thousand years from now, we will not be bored. We will not be tired. We will not be searching for purpose. We will finally be home.

And I believe with all my heart that when we arrive there, one of our first thoughts may be this: “How did I ever doubt Him?” Because through every difficult chapter, every unanswered question, and every painful season, God was still writing an eternal story bigger than anything we could see. And ten thousand years into eternity… we will realize we have only just begun.
